Broadband is 10 years old

Happy Birthday Broadband. Broadband is very popular now however there are still issues with the service. Some people cannot actually get it and some just cannot afford it. The government is trying to make it inclusive by placing a tax on the service. Controversial at times and gets talked about nearly as much as the weather.

Broadband speed in Milton Keynes is not great. We are in the centre of the city and we get speeds of 1.5 to a blistering speed of 2 mbps. We spend most of our time cursing the speeds but it was not so long ago that we used to 30 kbps on dial up. Frustrating does not even begin to convey the experience. You would think being in the middle of a brand new city that would be on a par with London but it appears not. We cannot get cable broadband because the lines are leased from BT and Virgin (previously NTL) would not do the work or assist in giving the people of Milton Keynes this facility. How can that be right? We should in actual fact be able to get much faster speeds. Does anyone else care or is it just the techies in the city that worry that we can get faster speeds on mobile broadband?
