Content Management Console?

Websites that are content rich need a content management system – yes? That is of course if you have not got a coding junky like me, who still loves to build sites from scratch.

I love a challenge and building websites using HTML, PHP, or ASP.NET provides me with a buzz, but that is  no good when someone else wants to update their website and they don’t want to have have the hassle of learning all that stuff. They just want to type in some words and add a picture or two and press publish. WordPress to me has everything that a user would want, but the next generation is hitting the shelves for the company that needs an enterprise style system.

Interwoven’s Teamsite has just released a new version of its CMS, nothing earth shattering there. Teamsite is used by some major corporations to run their websites and intranets, but this is CMS with a difference it comes with analytics built in and multivariate testing, all on the same platform. This means that you can analyse your web pages and create and deploy several versions, to see which one the customer likes, all from the same platform. Genius. Now if they add blogs and other web 2.0 functionality that would be really something?

For the likes of us (SME’s) we will have to wait a bit longer, as your pockets need to be very deep…….indeed.
