Firefox 3 to be released 17 June

The third major release of Firefox is nearly available as a finished product. This is the browser that ended Microsoft Internet Explorer’s monopoly and statistics show that Firefox has around 28% of the market. Mozilla Firefox 3 will be released on Tuesday 17 June.  The non-profit organisation behind this open source browser is hoping to set a new world record with the most downloads of a program in a 24 hour period.

Firefox 3, like a lot of programs has been available for months in pre-release form for the last several weeks, in “release candidate” builds. The arrival of the “finished” version may be a formality  as many people have downloaded the latest release candidate version and have used it sucessfully. The only reported “bugs” seem to be with working add-ins but I suspect that will not be an issue with the final version.

Get more than a sneaky peak from the Mozilla website or wait until the 17 June and help to break the world record!!! Pledge now I have.
