Google Analytics not very sexy but it works!!!
Google analytics is free and is good tool to use when you don’t have much money either as a designer or just for your own little website. It is not sexy or fun but gives you really useful facts about your website and how it is being used by visitors. If you venture into the world of ad words then this can become a fully integrated system to see how your web advertising is going. You can also create funnels to see how people are progressing through your site, which is especially important if you are selling.
The stastical package that Google uses is Urchin and they have been around for a good number of years. The hosted service gives you all the standard reports that you would want with neat little tools like content overlay that lets you see where your visitors are going on your website. It allows you to make your site more usable and you can start to investigate why visitors are ignoring bits of your site.
